I'm not self-hosting to save money. (I am saving a ton of money, but it's not really my main motivation.) I do it to stay in control, stay independent from big tech, and save time. It's literally faster to have my AI deploy a self-hosted template than to click around Vercel or AWS. Tech has gaslit you into thinking you need expensive cloud to "ship fast". It's all BS.
