What could that founder delegate to AI, and why does Anthropic want to run drug research itself? This is a concrete case of AI in drug discovery: organizing experiments, reconstructing months of project history, reviewing results and helping choose what to test next. We look at how Claude supported that work, what still required scientific judgment and physical laboratories, and how Mithril's rare childhood muscular dystrophy programs fit the bigger idea. Mithril reported promising mouse results in under eighteen months. Human trials are still ahead. The question is whether AI can help an experienced scientist keep more worthwhile drug programs moving without needing a large internal organization for every one.
