You can steer the scene, trigger events and interact with characters who respond. We look at Google's demonstrations of live scene changes, generated audio and dialogue, and Gemini helping guide events inside the simulation. We also explore what this could mean for game prototyping, filmmaking and turning photographs into explorable environments. The big question is how far these interactive AI worlds can go beyond an impressive first scene. We explain why consistent behavior, object permanence and longer sessions matter when a generated environment becomes something you want to keep exploring. Genie 4 is currently a research preview for trusted testers. Wider access is planned for Google AI Ultra subscribers in Project Genie and early access partners through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio.
